Patent language is hard to read and understand. For example:
United States Patent 6,323,767 Gropper November 27, 2001 Diagnostic FSK receiver for
decoding EAS and same with user definable translations teaches a method and apparatus of LEDS,
non volatile memory, an LCD, microcontrollers and a keypad to quickly determine the decoding
status of EAS and SAME messages; a method and apparatus for the user to define the translation
of these messages into custom text messages, abbreviations and different languages;
and a method and apparatus for interfacing the decoded messages to alphanumeric paging,
personal communication text messaging services, internet, email and remote LED signboards
boards by hardware, modem and pager.
The '767 patent was granted for the diagnostic FSK lock light on the
WE110/AE120. While this feature may seem simple, it proved critical
in troubleshooting the NWS' nationwide EAS/SAME alerting system
to make it more reliable. Thunder Eagle was gratified to receive a NWS Mark Trail Award and
a Department of Commerce NOAA Hero Award for supporting the NWS's mission of saving lives and property,
in part for using these inventions to improve the reliabilty of reception of these critcal severe weather alert messages.
Another patent covers the critical NWR automatic local weather channel selection in a sophisticated
scan mode that has proven essential to the safety of The Tornado Hunt and
numerous emergency and first responder vehicles throughout the country.
United States Patent 5,574,999 Gropper November 12, 1996 A method and apparatus for automatically
selecting the strongest received signal from a set of pre-selected channels, monitoring the selected channel,
automatically initiating the channel selection process, should certain preset
minimum parameters for the received signal fail to be met.
Thunder Eagle has many more inventions in process to utilize ever evolving communications
technology for the improved protection of lives and property.
